Landscape Walkway
- Abu Dhabi, UAE
- Landscape
- Public
Overview
A contemporary landscape experience built along one continuous route. A shaded walk, a water channel running beside it, and a sculptural marker placed where the walk changes direction and needs a reason to.
Presentation sheet
The presentation sheet as issued — floor plans, zoning and circulation diagrams, form development, section and material palette.

Design narrative
One route, and everything hung off it. Seating, planting, lighting and the water channel are all set out from the same centre line, which is what keeps a long walk from becoming a sequence of unrelated episodes.
The channel is shallow and continuous. It cools the air beside the walk, it gives the route a sound, and it stops the paving from reading as an expanse.
The sculpture is placed at the turn rather than at the end. A marker at the end of a walk rewards the people who finish it; a marker at the turn tells everyone else where the walk goes next.
